For The Tough Times by Max Lucado

April 3, 2009

As a longtime Lucado fan, I looked forward to reading, “For the Tough Times” and I wasn’t disappointed.

A quick easy read, it’s Lucado doing what he does best…blending plain-spoken scripture with warmth, compassion and humor, all packaged in his signature, “you-and-me-sitting-on-the-porch” style of delivery.

This book offers Biblical examples and insights, taken from several of his other books and reorganized, for those who are struggling with “tough times.” As is typical of the author, the message is always inspirational, occasionally convicting, and never judgmental.

His take on Job, and how he faced his tribulations, is as good a piece of writing as I’ve even seen Lucado produce…and that’s saying a lot.

Small enough to make a perfect gift-book, I plan to pick up several copies and hang onto them until someone comes along who needs to read this.

I loved this book.
